Technician in a VR headset interacting with a holographic industrial machine model

Simulation

Veritas — Industrial Training Simulation

A multi-user VR and desktop training simulation with scenario authoring, competency scoring and LMS reporting.

Challenge

Safety-critical equipment training required taking real machinery offline and gathering trainees on site. Assessment was observational and inconsistent between instructors.

Objectives

  • Train the full procedure without touching live equipment
  • Score performance objectively and consistently
  • Let subject matter experts author new scenarios
  • Deliver to both VR headsets and standard laptops

Technical Approach

The machinery and its failure modes were modelled as an interactive system rather than a scripted sequence, so trainees can make — and see the consequences of — genuine mistakes. Scenarios are data assets authored by SMEs. Every interaction is timestamped, mapped to a competency and reported to the client's LMS.

Development

  • Interactive equipment model with state simulation
  • Procedure and failure-mode scenario system
  • VR interaction layer with hand and controller support
  • Instructor station with live scenario control
  • Competency scoring, session replay and reporting
  • LMS integration over REST

Key Features

  • 01Multi-user training sessions
  • 02SME-authored scenarios
  • 03Objective scoring and session replay
  • 04Instructor-controlled fault injection
  • 05VR and desktop delivery from one build

Technology Stack

Unreal Engine 5OpenXRMeta QuestC++REST APIsPixel Streaming

Results

  • Full procedure trainable without downtime on live equipment
  • Consistent, evidenced assessment across trainees
  • New scenarios added by the client without development work
