Atlas — Interactive Facility Walkthrough
An explorable real-time twin of a logistics facility used to win stakeholder approval: walk the floor, review zone layouts and watch throughput light up before construction began.
Challenge
The operator needed board and investor approval for a new distribution hub while it existed only as drawings. Static renders could not answer the questions stakeholders kept asking: how does the floor feel, where are the bottlenecks, what happens at peak load?
Objectives
- Let non-technical stakeholders walk the unbuilt facility
- Visualize zone layouts, flows and automation coverage
- Reuse the same scene for renders, video and the walkthrough
- Deliver a tool the client could keep using after approval
Technical Approach
BIM data was prepared through Datasmith into a Lumen-lit master scene. Interactive markers anchor the walkthrough to key decisions — dock allocation, mezzanine flow, AGV routes — while a presentation mode plays a scripted flythrough for board meetings and switches back to free exploration in one click.
Development
- BIM-to-scene pipeline with Datasmith
- Interactive zone markers and decision hotspots
- AGV route visualization with animated flow
- Scripted flythrough and free-exploration modes
- Lumen day/night variants for context
- Packaged build plus still and video output
Key Features
- 01Walk the full facility in real time
- 02Decision hotspots tied to layout options
- 03Animated automation and material flow
- 04One-click presentation mode for meetings
- 05Stills and video exported from the same scene
Technology Stack
Results
- Approval secured after stakeholders explored the hub themselves
- Layout questions resolved in meetings instead of review cycles
- The walkthrough became the facility's living reference after handover
